4 Mental & Physical Benefits of Getting Outside Daily

Getting outside does the mind and body good, and now that warmer weather is upon us, it’s easier to get outside in the garden or go for a brisk walk to get the body moving and soak up some much-needed vitamin D.

We’re sharing four mental and physical benefits of getting outside in the fresh air daily.

4 Reasons to Get Outside Daily

#1 Soak up Some Vitamin D

Vitamin D (aka the sunshine vitamin) is so important for many different aspects of health. Vitamin D plays a role in mood and immune support and helps support bone health. It doesn’t take much either. Harvard Health states that getting outside a few times per week for just 10-15 minutes per day will help your body make the vitamin D that it needs.

#2 You’ll Move Your Body More

Exercise is important for both mental and physical wellbeing, and getting outside daily means you may be more likely to get some movement into your day. Try walking, gardening, or even playing in your backyard with your kids. Any type of movement counts and will do your body good!

#3 Your Mood May Be Better

Studies show that combining exercise with getting outside in nature comes with some added mental health benefits. So, take your workout outside! You may leave your workout feeling even better than the days you do a HIIT workout inside.

#4 You May Feel Less Anxious

Getting outside daily may also help you feel a bit more zen. This is because sunlight is thought to help boost serotonin levels, so getting outside when you are feeling tense and anxious is a great way to naturally calm the mind and leave you feeling happier.

Get Outside & Feel Your Best

Getting outside daily is a great way to help give you a bit of a mood boost. So, add some daily sunshine into your current self-care routine to help you feel your best!
