The Benefits of Meatless Mondays & How to Make Them a Part of Your Healthy Lifestyle

As we are officially into the beautiful season of Spring, many of us are looking towards working on new health goals. It’s a great time to evaluate how your New Year’s resolutions are looking and to make any necessary changes.

It’s also a time of year where we may all start to feel a bit more motivated. With warmer weather and more sunshine, it’s easier to get into the swing of living a healthy lifestyle.

We’re sharing how partaking in Meatless Mondays each week may be a great way to add more plant-based foods to your diet and support overall health.

What Are Meatless Mondays?

They are exactly as they sound — it’s when you choose to eliminate meat from your diet on Mondays as a way to help support your health and the planet. This idea launched in 2003 as a non-profit initiative to help reduce meat consumption. It’s now a very well recognized practice and something that actually acts as a really great starting point if you are trying to eat more plant-based.

The Benefits of Meatless Mondays

#1 Reduce Your Carbon Print

It’s important that we all look for ways that we can help reduce our carbon footprint and support a healthier planet. By reducing your meat consumption, you can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

#2 Boost Nutrient Intake

There’s no denying the fact that plant-based foods are loaded with fiber, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory properties. When you focus on eating 100% plant-based one day per week, it may help you become more mindful of the healthy foods you may want to consider adding to your diet throughout other days of the week as well.

#3 May Help You Make Smarter Dietary Choices

When we eat clean and notice how good it makes us feel, we may be more likely to carry on healthy eating practices throughout the week. So, practicing Meatless Monday may lead to a domino effect, making you want to eat plant-based two or even three times per week. Eventually, you may see that eliminating animal products from your diet is easier than you thought and actually makes you feel really good!

#4 Save Money

From an economic standpoint, plant-based foods generally cost less than meat, so you may actually save yourself some money on your next grocery bill. You can cut corners even more if you shop local at your local farmers market.

The Power of Meatless Mondays

While eating plant-based one day per week may not seem like a big deal, it actually is! Eliminating your meat consumption by just one day is a huge step in supporting your health.

So, use the power of Meatless Mondays and see how it can benefit you all while doing something really great for the planet.
