Prepping For a Candy-Free Halloween With Plant-Based Goodies

Believe it or not, Halloween is right around the corner, and while this time of year is often filled with sweets that seem to last us all the way through to the holiday season, there are lots of healthier alternatives.    We’re sharing our top favorite ways to celebrate Halloween without the candy and these are all plant-based.

4 Ways to Have a Plant-Based Candy-Free Halloween

#1 Use All The Seasonal Fruits & Veggies!

Instead of making Halloween about sugary treats, why not add lots of orange to your plate by enjoying seasonal foods like sweet potato, butternut squash, spaghetti squash, and tangerines? If you have kids, this is a fun way to incorporate healthy foods onto their plates too!

#2 Get Crafty

If you have kids, then chances are, they may be asking for candy and sweets on Halloween, but what if this year you tried to make things even more fun but without the added sugar? There are so many fun Halloween crafts like painting pumpkins or decorating pumpkins with stickers. This may be the year that you start setting your own candy-free Halloween traditions!

#3 Try Making a “Halloween Tea”

Instead of eating candy this time of year, why not make a seasonal “Halloween tea” by using some turmeric for a bright and vibrant color and whisk it up with some coconut milk and a medicinal mushroom blend. Top it off with a sprinkle of raw cacao nibs and extra turmeric to make it feel a bit more Halloween-inspired. It may be just enough to get you into the Halloween spirit without the candy!

#4 Shop For Candy-Free Alternatives

Life is busy, and if you just need something to grab and go, there are plenty of candy-free options available at places like Whole Foods. You can find Halloween-style pretzels and even bunny crackers that are fun for kids. You can even find individually wrapped Halloween snacks that are great for handing out on Halloween.

Prepping For A Healthier Halloween

With Halloween this month, now’s a great time to think about how to make it a little healthier. And while we all may be reaching for our favorite sweet treat this time of year, it’s nice to have a handful of things we can swap in and out that you and your family may even prefer over all the sweets we come across this time of year.
