7 Tips on Organizing Your Kitchen for Healthy Eating Success

An organized kitchen is one of the best ways to boost your healthy eating success. Going through your pantry and getting rid of all of the junk food and replacing it with wholesome and nutritious options while also re-arranging how you store food could be exactly what you need to stay on track with your healthy eating diet.

Let’s take a look at seven tips on how you can organize your kitchen pantry for healthy eating success.

7 Tips to Organize Your Kitchen for Healthy Eating

#1 Stock up on Glass Jars: Glass reusable jars like Mason-style jars and Tupperware are a must-have for organizing your pantry for healthy eating success. Glass is preferable to plastic to avoid any unnecessary BPA exposure, and there are so many things you can store in a Mason jar like a premade smoothie or homemade Holy Basil Tulsi iced tea.

#2 Use Chalkboard Labels: Chalkboard labels are great for labeling what’s in your glass jars. These are great to label that big jar of rolled oats, quinoa, and brown rice and can make organizing your pantry super easy. Plus, the great thing about chalkboard labels is that they can be reused, so you don’t have to worry about throwing them away once you are done using them.

#3 Rearrange Your Fridge: A great way to make sure you grab a healthy snack when you are running around and need something quick is to place all of the healthy snack options in the front of your fridge. Make sure you place them within reach so you can just grab and go. Things like hummus, sliced veggies and fruit are all great options!

#4 Invest in New Dinnerware: Sometimes getting new serving plates is a great way to help cut back on portion size. So many of us load our plates up with two-three times the recommended serving size without even realizing it, and a lot of this may have to do with how large your serving plates are. Try swapping them out with a smaller option to see what it does to naturally help move your serving sizes into more of the recommended range.

#5 Have a System: Another great tip is to have some sort of system when it comes to how you organize the items in your kitchen. For the fridge, maybe you have all of your fruits and vegetables on one shelf, and all of your yogurt, dairy-free milk, and cheese on another. Keeping it balanced and organized like this will allow you to see what you have at all times, and may also encourage you to eat the healthy foods that are sitting right in front of you.

#6 Organize Your Spices: Variety is the spice of life, and adding some seasoning to your healthy recipes can help them taste great while also adding in some additional health benefits. Try organizing your spices by keeping them in glass jars and labeling them, so you can quickly grab which ones you need and use them in your recipes.

#7 Ditch the Packaged Foods: When organizing your kitchen, go through your pantry and see what you can get rid of. Packaged foods like cookies, chips, and candy should be replaced with glass jars filled with things like nuts and seeds for healthier snacking.

The Bottom Line

A huge part of eating healthy and sticking to your plan is being prepared, and having some organization in your kitchen. Since your kitchen is where you are going to spend your time cooking up all of your healthy meals, it’s important to set yourself up for success. A clean and organized kitchen can go a long way in helping you stick to your healthy eating plan.
